It took a game saving tackle to win the game for the visiting Thunderbirds at North Knox on Friday night. The Thunderbirds put themselves in position to win the game to start the 4th quarter by outscoring the host Warriors by 14 points in the 3rd quarter and taking the lead to 21-8 to start the 4th quarter. Blayne Campbell lead the T-Birds offense with 2 TDs on 152 yards and 16 carries. Jaden Evans added a 43 yard TD in the first quarter to get the scoring started for the visiting Thunderbirds. The game plan was to give the ball to Campbell as much as possible because the Warriors just couldn’t bring him down from the beginning. On the first play for the Thunderbirds, Campbell shook off multiple Warriors for a 31 yard run to get him started. It was another play to Evans that the Thunderbirds needed to answer the TD that North Knox scored first.
Both teams running games couldn’t be stopped and luckily for the T-Birds that the clock expired before North Knox broke the plane for their 3rd score. The Thunderbirds stopped the North Knox offense at the 1 yard line with 13 secs left in the game and the clock expired as North Knox was out of time-outs and couldn’t get another play off.
The Thunderbirds are 2-0 to start the season and 1-0 in the Southwest Conference. The T-Birds are back in action on Friday, August 31st when another Southwest conference team, North Daviess, comes up to EG. GO THUNDERBIRDS!!!
