The South Knox Lady Spartans defeated the Eastern Greene Lady Thunderbirds at South Knox on Saturday. The Lady Thunderbirds were plaqued with foul trouble in the first half. With 2:00 minutes to go in the 1st half, Indy Workman picked up her 3rd foul of the game and had to take a seat the rest of the half. At the time, the Lady Thunderbirds had a deficit of 7 points, however, the Lady Spartans turned up the pressure on the defensive end and added to their lead before the half. The Lady Spartans led 30-15 at the half.
In the 2nd half, South Knox added to their lead a few times but the Lady Thunderbirds used runs of their own to keep within striking distance. The lead never got below 15 points but the Lady Thunderbirds fought every second of the game. The Lady Thunderbirds were led in scoring by freshman, Kenady Hudson, who had 18 points. No one else was in double figures. The Lady Thunderbirds were also missing Brennicka Walker, who scored 17 points in their season opener earlier in the week due to sickness.
The Lady Thunderbirds are back at home on Thursday night against Loogootee after weather conditions postponed the game on Tuesday. The JV game will tip at 6:00 p.m. with the varsity contest following.
