The Eastern Greene Lady Thunderbirds Basketball Team was in action on Saturday, December 1st against Orleans. The Lady TBirds got off to a great start and lead 19-16 at the half. Orleans started the 2nd half like they started the game and took a 27-22 lead into the 4th quarter.
The Lady TBirds turned up the defensive pressure and scored off a few turnovers to hold the Lady Bulldogs to 2 4th quarter points and tie the game at 29 with 57 secs left. The Lady Thunderbirds rebounded a miss shot by Orleans and got the ball back with a chance at the win. After 2 timeouts the Lady TBirds had the ball out of bounds with 9 secs left and a play to win. Farrah Young (EG) had a chance at the win but the pass was threw a little to far and the ball went out of bounds. Orleans, then, had a chance to win it but another bad pass went out of bounds as time expired.
The Lady Bulldogs took control in OT outscoring the Lady TBirds by 6 and sealing the victory 39-33.
The Lady TBirds are back in action on Tuesday, December 4th when they travel to Brown County to take on the Lady Eagles. Also, the Lady TBirds are back at home on Thursday, December 6th when they host SWIAC rival, Bloomfield. JV tips at 6:00 p.m. on both occasions. Come out and support the ladies as they look to even up their overall record and SWIAC record as well.
